Our
Journey:
Avalon's Army of Angels
October 24, 2009 Ambrosia's soccer game
|
Oh the beauty of a normal family day. When we signed Ambrosia up for Fall Soccer and
Avalon for Fall Cheerleading, it was the first "normal" family thing we'd done since Avalon's
cancer diagnosis back in Oct of 2004. Seriously, 5 years and all we've done/experienced/lived
is the life of a medical family. To register for a normal, boring, routine childhood activity like
soccer....well it was GLORIOUS! We have all had such incredible FUN. We learned the names
of the kids on the team and shout for one and all. We cheer for good plays by our opposing
team, because they're sweet kids too. We adore our coaches, and have become huge
supporters of the sports group who runs the program. All in all, we've had an amazing fall.
Ambrosia has blossomed. For once, something has been entirely about her. We scream her
name, we cheer for her, we celebrate her accomplishments. Every Saturday has been
Ambrosia Day, and I think it's the best thing we could have possibly done. I'm so proud of my
little athlete. Ambrosia is the bestest best big sissy any medical child could have possibly
asked for. But you know what? She's also one of the kindest, most thoughtful, wonderful little
girls any mom could have asked for. I'm so PROUD of my little soccer player!
Ambrosia, I ADORE you!!!!!!!
Here are my various attempts from today at "action shots". Ambrosia doesn't understand why I have so many more Avalon cheer pics than I do Ambrosia soccer pics. Umm....I'm so NOT a professional photographer! These little running soccer cuties are hard to catch on film! Ambrosia is #13, wearing the pink hat.
