The Army!
Avalon's Army of Angels
| Avalon's Treasury is the closest to a "normal" charity that the Army will ever get. The beginning of the treasury lies with the heartfelt requests from a Children's Hospital social worker. During discussions with a founder of Avalon's Army, she requested that the Army consider some unique needs of families and patients on the Heme-Onc unit. Sadly, there are patients lost to the evils of cancer. Often that loss is not only more than the hearts of a family can bear, its more than their finances can, as well. Avalon's Army wishes to alleviate some of the financial burden by having facilities at Avalon's Haven to hold memorial services. However, eventually there will also be a fund within Avalon's Treasury to assist with other funeral expenses. Avalon's Treasury also wishes to establish, Food for Thought, a fund to provide food and snacks for several pediatric cancer needs. It would set aside monies for occasional pizza parties or special treats for patients that are in-house. There would also be separate funds to help with snacks for patient support group meetings. |
